Move a Weebly site to a free static host

This path hosts the tool's HTML as-is. Rebuilding in WordPress is a copy-paste job instead.

Weebly is winding down in 67 countries. Sites there were unpublished on 2026-09-27. Login lasts until 2026-12-26. The United States, the United Kingdom and the EU are not affected. (Weebly notice)

Start from the tool ZIP

  1. Run the free tool. It names the download {your-archive}-static.zip (the sample is example-bakery-static.zip). Unzip it. Stop when index.html sits next to files/ and uploads/. Extra pages are sibling files such as about.html.
  2. Double-click index.html and check that pictures load.
  3. Host that folder (or the converted ZIP). Do not upload Weebly's original archive.

Cloudflare Pages (Direct Upload)

Cloudflare accepts a zip file or a single folder. (Direct Upload)

  1. Dashboard → Workers & Pages → Create application → Get started → Drag and drop your files.
  2. Enter a project name.
  3. Drop the folder that contains index.html, or drop the *-static.zip.
  4. Deploy site (the doc also says Save and Deploy).

The site is at <project-name>.pages.dev. Later: open the project → Create a new deployment.

Drag and drop allows 1,000 files and 25 MiB per file. Wrangler allows 20,000 files. If you choose Direct Upload, you cannot switch that project to Git later.

Netlify Drop

Log in to Netlify first. Drop works without an account, but if you drop without signing in, the site is protected with a temporary password until you claim it. (Netlify Drop quickstart)

  1. Log in at app.netlify.com/login.
  2. Go to app.netlify.com/drop.
  3. Drag the folder that contains index.html onto the drop zone.
  4. If the project is private, use Make public after a successful production deploy. On credit-based plans, new projects can start private. (Project visibility)

Deploys under 50MB work best; files over 10MB may get stuck. To update: drop a new folder under Production deploys.

What carries over / what doesn't

PagesYes. index.html at the ZIP root, plus sibling HTML such as about.html.
TextYes. It is already in the HTML.
ImagesYes. Files in uploads/; HTML already points at them.
Styles / fontsYes. Theme CSS in files/, saved remote CSS under assets/vendor/, plus assets/ats/runtime.css (and assets/ats/nav.js if a mobile menu was needed). Theme scripts are stripped.
FormsNo. Static files cannot send Weebly's form.
Blog / storeNo. Weebly does not put them in the site archive. (Back Up Your Site)

The ZIP also includes sitemap.xml, robots.txt, RESCUE-REPORT.html, and _rescue-notes.txt when the tool could build them.

Custom domain

Add the domain in the host before you change DNS.

FAQ

Which ZIP do I upload?

Only the converted *-static.zip from the tool, or the unzipped folder with index.html at the top. Do not upload Weebly's original archive ZIP.

Do I need to log in to Netlify before using Drop?

Yes, log in first. Drop works without an account, but if you drop without signing in, your project URL is protected with a temporary password until you claim it.

Is there a file limit on Cloudflare Pages drag and drop?

Yes. Cloudflare lists 1,000 files and 25 MiB per file for drag-and-drop uploads.

Will my Weebly contact form work?

No. Weebly says the contact form may not work outside its editor. The tool replaces dead forms with a notice. Blog and store pages are not in the archive.

Are the US, UK or EU affected?

No. Weebly is winding down in 67 countries it lists on its notice. The United States, the United Kingdom and the EU are not affected.

What happens to my export when I use the free tool?

Your export stays in your browser. To keep your site's look, your browser downloads its public styles and fonts straight from Weebly's servers. We count anonymous page visits.
