WordPress cannot install the tool's ZIP. Official steps are: copy the main text, then upload original image files. (Import from other platforms) The WordPress Importer is for a WordPress export (WXR XML), not HTML. (Importing Content)

Need the site online as HTML instead? Host it on Cloudflare Pages or Netlify.

Weebly is winding down in 67 countries. Sites there were unpublished on 2026-09-27. Login lasts until 2026-12-26. The United States, the United Kingdom and the EU are not affected. (Weebly notice)

Start from the tool ZIP

  1. Run the free tool. It names the download {your-archive}-static.zip (the sample is example-bakery-static.zip). Unzip it. Stop when index.html sits next to files/ and uploads/. Extra pages are sibling files such as about.html and contact.html.
  2. Open each HTML page in a browser. Copy the main text only. Pasting the whole page can produce unwanted HTML. (Import from other platforms)
  3. In WordPress: Pages → Add New. Paste the text. Upload files from uploads/ into Media. (Media library)
  4. Leave RESCUE-REPORT.html and _rescue-notes.txt on your computer.

What carries over / what doesn't

PagesRebuild each HTML file as a WordPress page.
TextCopy-paste the main text.
ImagesReuse files in uploads/.
Styles / fontsDo not carry over. files/ CSS, assets/vendor/, and assets/ats/ stay in the ZIP. Pick a WordPress theme.
FormsDo not work. The tool replaces Weebly forms with a notice. Rebuild a form in WordPress, or use an email link.
Blog / storeNot in Weebly's site archive. (Back Up Your Site)

Custom domain

WordPress.com's free plan uses a yoursite.wordpress.com subdomain, 1 GB of storage, and ads. It does not include a custom domain. Connecting a domain you already own is a paid-plan feature. (Pricing · Connect a domain)

FAQ

Can I upload my Weebly ZIP to WordPress?

No. WordPress.com's HTML-site guide is copy-paste, not a ZIP import. The WordPress Importer needs a WordPress export (WXR XML). The tool output is static HTML, uploads/, and files/, not a WordPress export.

What can I reuse from the tool ZIP?

Text from the HTML pages, and picture files in uploads/. Styles in files/ and assets/vendor/ do not become a WordPress theme. Blog and store pages are not in Weebly's site archive.

Are the US, UK or EU affected?

No. Weebly is winding down in 67 countries it lists on its notice. The United States, the United Kingdom and the EU are not affected.

Does WordPress.com include a custom domain on the free plan?

No. The free plan uses a WordPress.com subdomain, has 1 GB of storage, and shows ads. Connecting a domain you already own needs a paid plan. Check that page before you pay; prices change.

What happens to my export when I use the free tool?

Your export stays in your browser. To keep your site's look, your browser downloads its public styles and fonts straight from Weebly's servers. We count anonymous page visits.
