Your Weebly site went offline. Here's how to save it before 26 Dec 2026.
Not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Weebly or Square. Dates and steps come from Weebly's public help pages (October 2026).
Weebly is winding down service in 67 countries. If your site went offline in late September, this page is for you. It covers the free part: what to download, what the downloads leave out, and how to put your site back online on a free host.
The dates, in Weebly's words
| Date | What Weebly says |
|---|---|
| 29 Jun 2026 | "you will no longer be able to publish any new pages" |
| 20 Sep 2026 | Weebly winds down services in 67 countries |
| 27 Sep 2026 | Your site "will be unpublished" |
| 26 Dec 2026 | "After this date, you will no longer have login access to your Weebly account." |
(Weebly: Upcoming Changes to Weebly's Global Operations)
Not affected: the US, the UK and the EU aren't on Weebly's list of 67 countries, so sites there keep running. Check the full list on Weebly's notice if you're not sure.
Do these 2 things today
- Download both exports. They're different files, and neither is a full copy of your site.
- Account data: Account Settings → My Data → Download My Data (direct link). Weebly lets you ask it to erase your data after downloading. Wait until you've finished moving everything. (Weebly notice)
- Site archive ZIP: open the site editor → Settings → General, scroll to Archive, enter your email and click Email Archive. You'll get a download link by email. (Weebly: Back Up Your Site)
- If you bought your domain through Weebly, unlock it. Dashboard → Websites → Domains → Manage → Manage Domain. Turn off Registrar Lock and copy the EPP authorization code, then start the transfer at your new registrar. Don't change your domain's contact details first: Weebly says that triggers a 60-day lock. Unlocking also turns off WHOIS privacy, so turn it back on at the new registrar. Country-code domains and Google Workspace need Weebly support. (Weebly notice)
If your domain was bought somewhere else, there's no Weebly deadline for it. You'll just point it at your new host later.
What the exports leave out
Weebly says about the site archive ZIP: "Blog and store pages aren't included in the export as they rely directly on our database. Also, some components of your site may not work correctly outside of the Weebly editor, like the Contact Form and Slideshow elements." (Weebly: Back Up Your Site)
So, separately, before 26 Dec:
- Store items: export them as a CSV from the dashboard (Items → Site Items → "…" → Export). The CSV only links to your main product images on Weebly, so save the images to your computer too. (Weebly: CSV import and export)
- Form entries: Website → Overview → Form Entries → pick a form → Export. (Weebly: contact form submissions)
- Blog posts: check your Download My Data file for the post text. Weebly doesn't list what's in it, so look yourself. If posts are missing, copy them from the editor while you can still log in, or look for old captures on the Wayback Machine.
The archive also doesn't include Weebly's shared stylesheets and fonts. Pages load them from Weebly's servers.
Put your site back online
Step 1: Turn the archive ZIP into a host-ready site
The free way, with a tool: Archive to Static reads your site-archive ZIP in your browser. It rewrites links, saves Weebly's remote CSS into the download, strips editor scripts and the Weebly badge, replaces dead forms with a notice and an email link (if you give it a contact email), and gives you a ZIP you can host anywhere. Blog and store pages are listed in its report as left out. Use the site-archive ZIP, not the Download My Data file.
Your export stays in your browser. To keep your site's look, your browser downloads its public styles and fonts straight from Weebly's servers. Nothing is sent to us.
It's free, needs no account, and you don't need to buy anything to use it.
The free way, by hand: in our test of a real 2026 archive, two fixes mattered.
- HTTPS fix: pages load Weebly's shared CSS, fonts and scripts over
http://. Free hosts serve your site over HTTPS, and browsers blockhttp://files on HTTPS pages (MDN: Mixed content). In all.htmlfiles, replacehttp://cdnwithhttps://cdn. - Theme-script path fix: pages ask for
files/theme/plugins.jsandfiles/theme/custom.js, but the ZIP stores them atfiles/theme/files/plugins.jsandfiles/theme/files/custom.js. Fix both paths in all.htmlfiles. In our test, the mobile menu only opened after both fixes.
Upload the contents of the long-ID folder inside the ZIP, so index.html sits at the top of your site.
Step 2: Host it for free
- Cloudflare Pages: Workers & Pages → Create → drag and drop your files. Up to 1,000 files and 25 MiB per file. (Cloudflare: Direct Upload)
- Netlify Drop: drag the folder onto
app.netlify.com/drop. Log in first: a site dropped without an account stays password-protected until you claim it. (Netlify: Drop quickstart) - GitHub Pages: fine for a brochure, club or portfolio site, but GitHub doesn't allow online stores or other mainly commercial sites. (GitHub Pages limits)
Step 3: Fix the contact form
Weebly's form sends to Weebly, so it stops working on a new host. Swap in a free form service, or use a plain email link. Export your old form entries first.
Step 4: Point your domain
Once the transfer from "Do these 2 things today" is done, or if your domain was bought elsewhere, add it in your new host's custom-domain settings and add the DNS records it shows you at your registrar. Keep your old page names (like about.html) so links keep working.
Get the kit for the blog, store, form and domain
The Weebly Site Rescue Kit ($12) is a step-by-step guide for the parts the tool can't do: every export and what each leaves out, free hosting on Netlify, Cloudflare Pages or GitHub Pages (with the HTTPS and theme-script fixes), copy-paste contact form code, blog recovery from the Wayback Machine with a one-line query that lists every captured page, a Weebly-to-Shopify and WooCommerce store CSV column map, and the full domain transfer. It was checked against a real Weebly site-archive ZIP from October 2026, and anything Weebly hasn't published is listed plainly. Free updates until 26 Dec 2026. 14-day refund if the guide doesn't cover the steps described for a standard Weebly site (pages, form, blog, store, domain); not a change-of-mind refund after download.
Pairs with the free Archive to Static tool (archive-to-static.pages.dev), which turns the site-archive ZIP into a host-ready site in your browser. The kit also stands alone: every step works by hand with free tools.

FAQ
Is Weebly shutting down everywhere?
No. Weebly is winding down service in 67 countries it lists on its notice. The US, the UK and the EU aren't on that list. (Weebly notice)
Can I import the ZIP back into Weebly?
No. Weebly says: "While it isn't possible to import this file back into Weebly, you can save it as an offline backup of your website for safe-keeping or to recreate the site at another host." (Weebly: Back Up Your Site)
Will my blog be in the ZIP?
No. Weebly says blog and store pages aren't included in the archive. Check your Download My Data file, copy posts from the editor while you can log in, or try the Wayback Machine. (Weebly: Back Up Your Site)
What happens after 26 Dec?
Weebly says you'll no longer have login access. It hasn't said what happens to remaining data, hosted images or domains still registered with it, so finish before then. (Weebly notice)
Can I keep my domain?
Yes. If you bought it through Weebly, unlock it and transfer it before 26 Dec (see "Do these 2 things today"). A domain can't be transferred within 60 days of registration; if yours is that new, contact Weebly support. If you bought it elsewhere, just point it at your new host. (Weebly notice)
Does the free tool send my site anywhere?
Your export stays in your browser. To keep your site's look, your browser downloads its public styles and fonts straight from Weebly's servers. Nothing is sent to us.
Is this made by Weebly?
No. This page, the tool and the kit are made by labyrinth lab. Not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Weebly or Square.
